In 1994, McDowell’s Spirits Limited launched the McDowell’s Signature as a super-premium whisky in India. The whisky crossed the 1 million cases mark in 2008-09, nearly 14 years after it was first launched in the Indian market. The iconic octagonal bottle of Signature Premier Grain and Signature Rare Aged whiskies was designed by Claessen’s International, a designing firm, based out of London.
The Signature whisky brand is a part of the premium whisky category in India and competes with several other established whisky brands such as Blenders Pride and Sterling Reserve B10 Premium Blended Whisky.
Making Process of Signature Premier Grain Whisky
Signature Premier Grain whisky is a blend of imported Scotch malts and Indian grain spirits, put together by master blender Caroline Martin. The tasting notes of the Signature Premier Grain whisky carry a light nose with hints of honey and leather and a bit of smokiness. Since it’s a young blend, the palate is smokier in flavor and the taste of molasses is quite evident. The finish has the taste of the grains and peat with cereals and lingers for quite some time.
The Signature Premium Grain whisky is slightly different in taste from the rare aged one which has a feel of an old blend to it.
