Created by blending together malt whiskies from the Glenkinche distillery, the Linkwood Distillery and many others, this blended Scotch whisky is matured in used Bourbon Oak barrels.
Carrying an age statement of 15 years, meaning the youngest whisky used in their blend is at least 15-years-old, the Haig Dimple Scotch whisky earns its name due to the dimpled, three-sided bottle it is packaged in. Dimple Scotch Whisky History
The Haig Dimple whisky is also one of the oldest whisky brands still available in the market considering the foundations of the brand were laid by John Haig in 1824 in Cameronbridge, Scotland.
The Dimple expression itself was introduced in 1893, and in the following years, its export, undertaken by John Haig’s sons, Alicius and Hugh Vietch through their export business, Haig & Haig, made the brand popular in the United States of America. The Dimple blended Scotch whisky continues to be a popular brand in the country, albeit as the Dimple Pinch, a slightly stronger expression exclusively for the United States of America.
Dimple 15 Year Old Alcohol Percentage
The Dimple 15 year old has an alcohol strength of 43% ABV (86 US Proof).
It is the slightly higher placed expression over the Haig Gold, and is described by the company itself as having a much more ‘malty influence’ as compared to other expressions from the house of Haig. This ‘malty influence’ is attributed to the source whiskies from Glenkinche and Linkwood.

Nose
The Dimple carries a slightly spicy nose with hints of toffee and citrus. The company website encourages a few drops of water to unlock the nose further.
Taste
A well-balanced, warm and slightly smoky taste, with hints of caramel and further hints of toffee.
Finish
Short, with traces of burnt fudge and caramel with some oak.
