Dewar’s White Label Scotch Whisky

Dewar’s is a Scotch whisky brand created by John Dewar Sr. in the year 1846, and their White Label Scotch is one of world’s oldest Scotch whisky. A blended Scotch whisky brand, Dewar’s is owned by Bacardi, acquired by the company sometime around 1998.

It has been claimed by the company to be the bestselling blended Scotch whisky in the United States of America although no official figures to support the claim have been revealed. Nevertheless, it continues to be a well-known blended Scotch whisky brands alongside the widely popular brands such as Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s and Johnnie Walker.

Dewar’s History

Founded by John Dewar Sr., the company gained prominence under his sons, John A Dewar Jr and Thomas Dewar roughly 50 years after the company was founded. During this time, the John Dewar & Sons company constructed the Aberfeldy Distillery that continues to produce single malt Scotch for the brand.

Dewar’s follows a different process of blending their whiskies together that produces the signature Dewar smoothness as claimed by company. This process involves blending the source whiskies together in Oak casks, aging them as one and eventually aging them even further post-blending to achieve the Dewar’s smoothness the brand has come to be known by.

Founder John Dewar Sr.’s son, Thomas Dewar followed a quirky marketing practice that helped the brand popularize itself with unsuspecting people. He threw empty Dewar bottles into the sea with little notes in them which promised a prize or a surprise to people who found them.

Dewar’s White Label Tasting Notes

Highly rated, the tasting notes on the Dewar’s White Label whisky speak a lot about its taste. When you initially go in, you will notice a nose of peach and honey mixed with a hint of wood, apple and cut hay.

As you delve a little deeper into it you will get a taste of toffee, some vanilla fudge, and heather honey with a hint of oak and a medium flavor. Finally, this whisky finishes off with a flourish of sweetness tinged with honey, fresh cut herbs and of course has a good length.
